The Miami Dolphins added undrafted free agent wide receiver Theo Wease, Jr., after the 2025 NFL Draft. He spent most of the year on the practice squad, but by the end of the season, he had grown into a depth option on the 53-man roster. Will that growth continue into 2026?
Our latest 90-in-90 breakdown takes a look at Wease and how he might fit into the Dolphins this year.

Wease signed as an undrafted free agent, spending most of his rookie season on the Dolphins’ practice squad. He was elevated in Week 16, making his debut, then was promoted to the active roster for Weeks 17 and 18. He caught two passes in Week 16, averaging 16 yards per catch, then had a 63-yard touchdown reception in Week 17 – his only touch in the game. In Week 18, he tallied three receptions for 44 yards. Wease’s development on the practice squad led to an opportunity on the active roster, and he made an impact when given the chance.
Wease’s three appearances did not qualify him for his first year of league service.
Wide receiver signings: Tutu Atwell, Donaven McCulley (UDFA), Terrace Marshall, Jr., Jalen Reagor, Jalen Tolbert
Trade: Jaylen Waddle to Broncos
Drafted: Caleb Douglas (3rd round), Chris Bell (3rd round), Kevin Coleman, Jr. (5th round)
Wease developed throughout the 2025 season and he could look to do the same this year. With the release of Tyreek Hill and trade of Jaylen Waddle, the Dolphins’ wide receiver group is not headlined by top-tier names heading into this season. The group is crowded, however, with 12 players on the roster, including four free agent additions, three drafted rookies and the two returning Washingtons. Wease will have to make a strong impact early in camp to make an argument that he needs to land on the roster.
Wease could be in position to be a practice squad player to start the season, then get a call up in case of injury.
