The Truth About Mizuno Wave Momentum Elite (Pros & Cons)

The Wave Momentum Elite is Mizuno’s follow-up to the Wave Momentum 3 – but is it still one of the best volleyball shoes today? After testing them myself and digging into what players are saying, here’s the breakdown 👇

What’s Great

  • Super comfortable right out of the box (no painful break-in).

  • Stable on landings + quick direction changes.

  • Excellent grip, even on dusty courts.

  • Top-notch cushioning that really protects your joints over a long season.

⚠️ What’s Not So Great

  • Not as bouncy/explosive as models like the Asics Sky Elite FF3.

  • Can feel snug if you’ve got very wide feet.

  • Some players don’t love the updated tongue/upper design.

💬 My Take
I tested them in multiple practices, and the cushioning + stability stood out immediately. For me, the best part is how well they handle landings – protecting knees, ankles, and back. Over a full season, that makes a huge difference.
I also really like the new white/orange colorway – clean and sharp.

👊 Best For
Outside hitters, opposites, middle blockers – anyone who jumps and lands a lot. If you want a safe, stable, and comfortable shoe to support heavy training and matches, the Wave Momentum Elite is a top choice. Just make sure you try them on first if you’ve got wide feet.
